Nick Jorgenson, founder of Aarhus, is an artisan woodworker and licensed contractor who has a passion for natural and eco-friendly building that lasts lifetimes.
After traveling west in his early 20’s to spend time in the Redwood forest, Nick discovered an inherent skill for the patient art of woodworking, particularly live-edge designs that highlight the natural beauty of trees. He apprenticed as a furniture builder in Boulder, Colorado, studied timber framing at the North House Folk School in Grand Marais, MN, and learned ancient timber framing techniques from master Norwegian timber framers.
In his work as a contractor he is a natural leader and creative problem solver who holds high standards for the integrity of the work produced by his team. He has an eye for detail and a passion to get the job done well the first time.

We create our designs to be high quality and energy efficient so they last and use fewer resources in the long run. We even use dumpsters that recycle up to 70% of construction waste to reduce our ecological footprint.
